Activa
The Activa Virtual Attendant is an advanced car wash activation unit from Intelio Technologies.
bandwidth
Bandwidth refers to the transmission capacity of a network. Available bandwidth depends on several variables, such as the rate of data transmission between networked devices, network overhead, number of users, and the type of device connecting PCs to a network. Bandwidth is analogous to the diameter of a pipeline: the wider the pipe, the more water can flow through it per second. Similarly, the wider a network's bandwidth, the more data can pass over it per second.
BIOS
An integral part of the PC, the BIOS is the program used to get the computer started after you turn it on. It also manages the data flow between the computer's operating system and attached peripheral devices.
broadband
Broadband is the term applied to high-speed data transmission, such as cable, ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network), and DSL (Digital Subscriber Line). Broadband technologies provide faster connections to the Internet than traditional dial-up services.
DHCP
DHCP is a software utility that enables a network router to dynamically assign IP addresses from a predefined list to devices on a network and limit the usage period of those addresses so they can be reassigned. Without DHCP, an IT manager would have to manually enter all the IP addresses of all the computers on the network. But if DHCP is used, whenever a computer logs onto the network, an IP address is automatically assigned to it.
Direct Arming
Use Activa Direct arming to control the car wash through a direct wired connection to the Activa's I/O terminals.
DNS
DNS is a software program that translates Internet URLs to IP addresses by accessing a database maintained on a collection of Internet servers. Every Web site has its own IP address on the Internet. But IP addresses are specified in a numeric format. The DNS program works in the background to facilitate surfing the Web with meaningful alpha character sequences, rather than numeric addresses. So, for example, a DNS server converts a name like "mywebsite.com" to an IP address 107.22.55.26.
Ethernet
The Ethernet is the international standard networking technology for wired implementations. The Internet Protocol (IP) works on top of Ethernet. Ethernet network wire provides the physical connections in an IP network.
firewall
A firewall is a system that secures a network, shielding it from access by unauthorized users. Firewalls can be implemented in software, hardware or a combination of both. In addition to preventing unrestricted access into a network, a firewall can also restrict data from flowing out of a network.
Intelio Support Scripts
Intelio Support Scripts (ISS) are the scripts that run on an sserv or teller as part of our support mechanism. Most notable is the reporting to the SOC and software updater.
IP
The Internet Protocol is a standard the defines how data is transmitted over the Internet. It uses Ethernet wire to physically transport the data. An IP address identifies a device on an IP network. The IP address is made up of four numbers, such as 64.79.169.201.
ISP
A company which provides access to the Internet.

Intelio Support Scripts (ISS) are the scripts that run on an sserv or teller as part of our support mechanism. Most notable is the reporting to the SOC and the software updater.
LAN
The Local Area Network refers to an Ethernet/IP network that exists behind a network router. A single place, such as a store or car wash site, always has its own LAN. Sometimes it has a couple of layers of LANs - one for each router.
network switch
A switch is a network device that connects multiple computers on a LAN so they can communicate with one another, the rest of the network, and the Internet. Unlike a hub, users connected to a switch do not share the available bandwidth; each switch port runs at the full bandwidth of the switch port. Switches allow multiple PCs to be connected to the same network without losing bandwidth speed.
PLC
A Programmable Logic Controller is often used as the controller, or "brain", of a car wash.
POS
A Point of Sale system refers to devices such as a cash register or fuel dispenser which are the point at which sales are made to customers.
RJ-45
RJ-45 designates a standard connector used in Ethernet networks. Although it closely resembles a standard RJ-11 telephone connector, an RJ-45 connector can have up to eight wires, whereas telephone connectors have only four.
router
A router is a device that forwards data packets from one local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) to another.
Site Controller
The Activa or WashMax Site Controller is a device that resides in the car wash site's store or equipment room and processes wash codes, credit cards, marketing programs, etc. It can interface with a Point of Sale (POS) device to sell wash codes, and may be used to monitor the car wash equipment.
Site Server
The Activa or WashMax Site Server is a device that resides in the car wash site's store or equipment room and processes wash codes, credit cards, marketing programs, etc. It can interface with a Point of Sale (POS) device to sell wash codes, and may be used to monitor the car wash equipment.
USB
USB is a standard for connecting devices to computers, such as mice, modems and keyboards. USB has largely replaced serial and parallel ports.
Virtual Attendant
The Virtual Attendant refers to the Activa product line of activation units from Intelio Technologies and our OEM partners.
VPN
A VPN is a secure Internet connection using encryption and tunneling protocols to create a safe connection to a private network. The Intelio VPN provides highly secure connections between Intelio provided computers at a customer site and the Intelio central office.
WashMax Onsite
WashMax Onsite (WMO) is the software service that runs on an sserv or teller computer at the car wash site. It communicates with it's WashMax Server (WMS) in Intelio's central server farm.

wms
Intelio runs several WashMax Servers at it's central server farm. They can be reached at www.washmax.com.
